About Humans of Medicine

Hi, I’m Ishaan, and you’re reading Humans of Medicine.

This isn’t a traditional magazine. There’s no big team behind it—just me, a student fascinated by medicine and the people who practice it. I do the interviews, write the stories, design the layouts, and hit “publish.” It’s a one-person magazine built from curiosity, empathy, and admiration for the human side of healthcare.

I started Humans of Medicine because I wanted to know more than just what doctors do. I wanted to understand who they are—their challenges, their motivations, their best days and worst days, the reasons they chose this demanding path, and the things that keep them going. Every story I share is a chance to remind us that medicine is not only about science and treatment—it’s about people.

Through this magazine, I hope to give:

  • Aspiring doctors and students a real glimpse into what life in medicine looks like.

  • Medical professionals a chance to reflect on and share their own journeys.

  • Readers everywhere a window into the resilience, vulnerability, and humanity of people who dedicate their lives to healing.

I’d love for this not to be a solo effort forever. That’s where you come in. You can:

  • Nominate yourself if you’re a doctor who’d like to share your story.

  • Nominate someone you know whose journey should be heard.

  • Contribute as a guest writer if you have a perspective or reflection worth sharing.

At the end of the day, Humans of Medicine is about building a collective of voices—one story at a time. I just happen to be the one stitching it together.

Thank you for reading and being part of this journey.
